Troubleshooting Guide for Refrigerated Cases

CAUTION BEFORE SERVICING!BEFORE SERVICING! ALWAYS DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER AT THE MAIN DISCONNECT WHEN SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY ELECTRICAL COMPONENT.

 

Problem: Cause: Action:

Case temperature is too warm.

1. Case is in defrost.
2. Product load may be over its limits blocking airflow.
3. Ambient conditions may be affecting the case operation.

Condensing coil or evaporator coil is clogged or dirty.

Review T-Stat settings.

2.

Redistribute product.
 

3. Check case position in store. Is the case located near an open door, window, or air conditioning vent? RH should not be over 50% and temperature above 75º.
4. Clean coil.
Case temperature is too cold.
1. The T-Stat temp is set too low.
2. Ambient conditions may be affecting the case operation.
1. Check setting. See factory guidelines.
2. Check case position in store. Is the case located near an open door, window, or air conditioning vent? RH should not be over 50% and temperature above 75º.
Condensation on glass.
1. Inadequate air circulation. 
 
2. Product load may be over its limits blocking airflow.
3. Ambient conditions may be affecting the case operation.

Shelves are in wrong location.

1. Check grill on die board for adequate airflow over glass.
2. Redistribute product.
 
3. Check case position in store. Is the case located near an open door, window, or air conditioning vent? RH should not be over 50% and temperature above 75º.
4.

Place shelves from shortest on the top to longest on the bottom.

Water has pooled under case.
1. Case drain is clogged..
2. PVC drains under case may have a leak.
3. Evaporator pan is overflowing.
1. Clear drain.
2. Repair as needed.
 
3. Check electrical supply to dissipater pan. Check float assembly. The RH% may be too high for the dissipater pan to keep up. (Note: Cases equipped with electric dissipater pans should NEVER have food products washed or poured into the drain as it will result in damage to the heating element.)
Frost or ice on evaporator coil.
1. Evaporator fans are not working.
2. Defrost clock doesn’t work.

Check electrical connections.
 

2. Have unit serviced by a qualified service technician.
