Barker Company Hosts Annual Family Party at Fun City
Burlington, Iowa – The Barker Company Family Party was held August 9 and 10th in Burlington at Fun City. 690 employees and their families participated in the 2 day event. Each guest received a special 2008 Barker Party T-Shirt and a $20 gift card for Fun City. Activities at the theme park included arcade games, go-carts, bowling, laser tag, and the huge, 70,000 square foot water park.
A prime rib dinner was served in the event center and was followed by a show performed by ventriloquist, Ian Varella. For over a decade, Varella has entertained companies, toured with NCL, Holland America, Princess and Renaissance Cruise lines, and has performed at top show rooms in Las Vegas. Live music at the Boogaloo Café completed the evening. Some employees spent the night at the Pzazz! Resort Hotel, Catfish Bend or Holiday Inn and were served breakfast the next morning.
38 employees enjoyed a golf outing on Golf Digests’ #2 course in Iowa, Spirit Hollow.
A 14 member committee representing the Keosauqua and Centerville factories, planned the event. Members were Kellie Simmons-Kirkhart, Bob Bowman, Cassie Pohren, Amber Bartholomew, Brandie Liles, Brenda Neeley, Dave Ludwig, Gary Dunlavy, Lesa Waterman, Pam Brockett, Sharon Menke, Roger Menke, Sheila Perry, Tammie Woods.
