BARKER COMPANY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS
Keosauqua, IA – For the 10th consecutive year, Barker Company has awarded scholarships to deserving children and/or grandchildren of Barker employees. This year’s awards totaled $29,000 and were distributed to 10 recipients. The Barker scholarship program has awarded $292,000 over the last 10 years.
This year’s recipients are:
Jamie Johnson, daughter of Robert and Bonnie Reighard and of Rod Johnson. Jamie graduated from Fairfield High School and is planning to study Industrial Design at Southern Illinois University or Iowa State University.
Jessica Thomas, daughter of Jeremy and Lindy Thomas, graduated from Van Buren High School. She will attend Central College in the fall to pursue a degree in Chemistry.
Barbara Carter, daughter of Wally and Lisa Carter of Centerville. Barbara is currently attending Des Moines Area Community College in Boone and plans to study Elementary Education.
Chancey Cordray is the son of Chancey and Judy Cordray of Memphis, Missouri. He is currently attending the University of Missouri – Rolla and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Corbin Millard, son of Kim Millard is a graduate of Van Buren Community Schools. He plans to attend Kirkwood Community College to study business management.
Mikel Shaffer, son of John and Kris Shaffer graduated from Scotland County High School. He will Central Missouri State University and study aviation.
Zachary Keller, son of Mike and Tamara Keller is a graduate of Van Buren High School He plans to attend Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa and will seek a liberal arts degree.
Dakota Casady, son of Tom and Tina Rea. Dakota is a graduate of Cardinal High School and will be attending Indian Hills Community College to study welding, machining, and auto mechanics.
Kelsey Snyder, daughter of Jim and Chris Snyder graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Kelsey will attend Southeastern Community College and then the University of Iowa. She plans to pursue a career in nursing.
Lyle Sedore, son of Joe Sedore is a Van Buren High School graduate. He will attend Indian Hills Community College and study machine technology and welding.
