BARKER COMPANY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS
Keosauqua, IA -- Barker Company
recently awarded 10 scholarships to children and/or grandchildren of
Barker employees. The scholarship awards range from $2,000 to $8,000 per
scholarship. A total of $38,000 was presented for 2006. Barker
Company has awarded $263,000 in the past nine years.
The recipients are:
Barbara Carter, daughter of Wally and Lisa Carter of
Centerville
. Barbara plans to study arts and sciences at
Grandview
College
.
Trisha Coatney, daughter of Dewey and Carol
Coatney of
Davis
County
. She plans on pursuing a degree in psychology while studying
at
Indian
Hills
Community College
and
Buena Vista
University
.
Chancey Cordray, son of Chancey and Judy Cordray of
Memphis-
Scotland
County
. He is currently attending the
University
of
Missouri
and is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
Laura Marlow, daughter of Roberta and Brett
Marlow of
Davis
County
. Laura plans to study elementary education. She will begin
her studies at
Indian
Hills
College
and then transfer to complete her degree.
Danielle McCracken, daughter of Wanda and Glen
McCracken of Harmony. She is currently enrolled at
Indian
Hills
Community College
and plans to transfer to the
University
of
Iowa
.
Sonya Sedore, daughter of Lloyd Sedore and Jane Morris of Harmony. Sonya plans to study
nursing at
Southeastern
Community College
.
Bridget Pforts, daughter of Shirley and Dave
Pforts of Van Buren. She plans to study business management at
Central
College
.
Monica Schmitz, daughter of John and Kris Shaffer of

. Monica plans to study social work at

Patrick Thomas, son of Doris and Marvin Thomas of Keosauqua. He is studying conservation management
